Native American Journal
Hello Journal!!!
Today was an amazing day!!! This is how my day went!!:
Today I woke up with mama shaking me. She said " Tala!!! Breakfast is ready!!! It is your favorite...." I finally agreed to wake-up and got dressed. I stood on the balcony of our pueblo. I smelled the air, and it smelled like corn, beans and a hint of squash. I looked down and saw my brother Taima by the coal. He was warming his hand's and looked up and moved his hand in a motion that I knew to come down. I rushed down the stairs and the sturdy ladder. When I reached the coal pit I sat down next to him. He smiled at me and continued talking to his friends. I asked him as we were walking up "Is there going to be a hunt?". Our tribe had to try to find food, because our area is hot and dry. Taima told me that there was a search for buffalo today. He said "There is a search today, and I'm going!!!" I wondered if I could sneak along. Usually girls stay at home, and I hated cleaning!! But I loved hunting... Watching the men hold there arrows and let them go... an experience that I will never get besides now, because they have you do more chores as you grow up!! I decided to tell mama that I was fetching water at the far river, so I would walk back with the hunters. I got my bag and a knife and by brother's spare bow and arrow. I grabbed some corn and my pot and followed the men to the dessert. I hid behind some rocks and waited till' they got about 5 feet away. Then I found another rock and snuck back there. I repeated that pattern until they were in the direction of the river and I came out. I caught up to Taima and pulled him aside. I whispered "Taima! I am pretending to go down to the river and secretly following you!!!!!". Taima looked weirdly at me and made a movement with his hand to follow him. I followed him for 30 minutes and came to a stop when we decided to turn back. When they came toward the river I got water and hustled to camp. Taima the "Teller" told Mama that I went hunting and she found the arrow in my bag. We usually have corn and beans for dinner but she said no corn for dinner, just beans.....
That was weird, Mama never gave punishments. She started saying that I was not allowed to go hunting and I told her " I won't go again, it WAS BORING!!!" And that was true!!!! This day was strange and cool!!!
